In young soccer players strength training was more effective for developing strength, speed, and lower limb functionality. To keep injury risk low you should always train the opposing muscle! Here is the research:
Hasan, S. (2023). Effects of plyometric vs. strength training on strength, sprint, and functional performance in soccer players: A randomized controlled trial. Scientific Reports, 13(1), 1-10. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-023-31375-4

Thank you for sharing that research. It's interesting to see that strength training was more effective than plyometric training for developing strength, speed, and lower limb functionality in young soccer players.
